VINCI Facilities has consolidated its position as a key service provider in the social housing sector with the recent award, 5 November 2011, of the Barrow-in-Furness Housing Repairs and Maintenance contract.
Valued at £7.2m the contract covers 2,700 dwellings ranging from houses to flats and encompassing general repairs and maintenance, voids and gas servicing. It is for a four year period with the opportunity for a two year extension.
One of the aspects of VINCI Facilities’ approach which set them apart from their competitors was their use of IT operational systems. The VINCI Facilities team worked hard to demonstrate the benefits of its bespoke Maximo system and hand held technology that links to Barrow’s own housing management system. This is a significant pathway to continually driving efficiency and cost savings demanded of exceptional Asset Management.
Immediately following the contract award VINCI Facilities invested in a new operational base at James Freel Court in Barrow where staff and a fleet of 22 vehicles will operate from. There is a strong emphasis on the community throughout the contract. The new operational base means staff have had their journey time to work shortened and the new fleet of vehicles will display the “Love Barrow” logo agreed with Barrow. All the vehicles are fitted with the latest GPS tracking capability ensuring all stakeholders enjoy a high “First Fix” rate; minimising inconvenience and waste.
Commenting on the appointment, Tony Raikes, Managing Director, VINCI Facilities said,
“We are really pleased to have been awarded this contract and are looking forward to bringing our experience and expertise to both the Council and the stakeholders of Barrow. Our service will be based on close local resident liaison to ensure fast and effective help at all times.”
