Ground Control
Contract: VINCI GC Go
To enable VINCI to “embedding sustainability at the heart of everything we deliver” and to support VINCI’s client base, Ground Control has used GC Go to provide rapid biodiversity assessments and provide key recommendations for the required actions to boost biodiversity. It has also been used to identify hazards on sites, ensuring that sta and visitors remain safe. The application was first used on a trial basis with VINCI Defence. The trial was hosted by VINCI sustainability leads and not only did this show the functionality for biodiversity assessments, but the full capability of the app to request additional works, such as vegetation management or important boundary works. This relationship has also seen sustainability leads from the area host specific sustainability days at our Wildfell Centre for Environmental Recovery, combining a strategic day with on-site tree planting. The biodiversity assessments have since then been used to assess the grounds at the London Stadium. The final report classified unique areas of the site as environmental biomes and provided tangible changes that could be made to enhance biodiversity. Within these biomes, each improvement was assessed and ranked for its achievable outcome. During this assessment, GC Go also identified several trees on site that were hazardous for park visitors, enabling the client to take essential action. Adding value to these services, Ground Control was an active participant in the recent VINCI innovation fairs. Here, GC Go was showcased and demonstrated to visitors as an example of innovation in the industry.
